Ah, the start of a new year, when we’re all bombarded with the pressure of setting lofty goals and ambitious resolutions that often fizzle out before February. Sound familiar? This year, let’s try something different. Instead of chasing unattainable goals, what if we focused on creating intentions that guide us gently and meaningfully through the year? Intentions are kinder, more flexible, and rooted in what truly matters to us. Doesn’t that sound more fun and achievable?
As we step into this moment in time, shaped by the Gregorian calendar, many of us find ourselves reflecting on the idea of a “new year” and the fresh beginnings it symbolises. While this calendar governs much of our daily lives, I’d like to invite you to a deeper awareness of the natural rhythms and cycles that connect us to nature, the seasons, and the profound life cycles we experience as women. Over time, I’ll share more about these rhythms and how tuning into them can bring a sense of harmony and balance to our lives.
For now, let’s embrace this idea of new beginnings by turning inward and connecting with our own desires, truths, and intentions. Below, I’ve shared four journal prompts that have supported me in my own journey to find clarity, purpose, and meaning. These prompts are designed to help you reflect on where you are, where you wish to go, and how you’d like to feel as you move forward—whether you’re preparing for the arrival of a baby, embracing motherhood, or navigating the evolving chapters of womanhood.
Journal Prompts to Set the Tone for Your Year
1. What experiences do I want to have?
Take a moment to dream. What adventures, connections, or moments do you long for? Perhaps it’s the peaceful experience of pregnancy, a deepened connection with your partner or children, or time spent immersed in nature. Honour what arises, no matter how big or small.
2. What needs to change in my life?
This question calls us to honesty and courage. Are there patterns, habits, or circumstances that no longer serve you? Maybe it’s letting go of unrealistic expectations, creating more space for self-care, or prioritising your emotional and physical well-being. Change begins with awareness.
3. How do I want to feel at year’s end?
Anchor your vision in feelings. Is it joy, calm, fulfilment, or vitality? By focusing on how you want to feel, you can begin to make choices that align with those emotions, paving the way for a more intentional and meaningful journey.
4. What new beliefs do I want to embody about myself?
This prompt is about rewriting your inner narrative. Perhaps you want to embrace the belief that you are capable, worthy, or resilient. Maybe it’s about trusting your body through pregnancy, birth, and beyond, or recognising your power as a mother and a woman. Let these beliefs guide and ground you.
Creating Space for Reflection
Journaling is a powerful tool for self-discovery and transformation. Whether you set aside a quiet moment at dawn with a cup of tea or carve out time after the kids are in bed, give yourself the gift of reflection. Let these prompts be your guide, helping you to reconnect with yourself and your deepest desires as you navigate this year.
A Journey Through Cycles and Seasons
As we move forward together, I’ll share more about the cycles of nature and the wisdom they hold for us as women. These cycles teach us to honour the ebb and flow of life, to rest when needed, and to embrace growth when the time is right. For now, I invite you to begin your year with these prompts as a way to create clarity and intention in this current cycle.
Thank you for being part of this journey. May this year bring you meaningful experiences, transformative growth, and the deep knowing that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
With love and reflection,
Theoni
