Halfway Through the Year: A Gentle Call to Presence and Personal Power

Some mornings I still catch myself asking: What is even happening in the world right now? So much noise. So many opinions. So much uncertainty.

The truth is, we don’t always know. And that’s okay. What we do have is this moment. Right here. Right now. A chance to slow down, breathe, and come back to ourselves.

As a woman, a mother, a partner, a caregiver. What keeps you steady? What helps you return to calm when life feels loud or unpredictable?

Children, especially, can mirror our inner state. They seem to know exactly which buttons to press. And while we can’t control their behaviour (or the world), we can choose how we respond.
One of the simplest tools I return to is the breath. When I’m about to react, I pause. I remind myself: “

This is not an emergency”

I don’t always catch it in time but when I don’t, I meet myself with kindness. I remind myself: I’m doing the best I can in this moment. And then practice self compassion, which is for another blog post.

Let’s talk about what we can control:

  • How we take care of ourselves
  • How much time we spend online
  • What we eat and how we sleep
  • The stories we tell ourselves
  • The way we treat others

It’s July. The midpoint of the year. None of us expected to be exactly here and yet, here we are.
This is a beautiful time to take stock.

To ask gently:

What do I want to complete? Begin? Learn? Let go of?

Also notice what stops you.
What are your excuses? Try writing them down for three days, without judgement.
Mine often sound like: I don’t have time. Someone else needs me more. I’ll start tomorrow.

Just noticing can be powerful.

If you’re feeling the pull to reflect more deeply on your rhythms, your stories, your purpose. I’m here.
