For today’s blog, I want to talk about oxytocin bathing.
And all women need to hear this.
Please send this to the women you know.
Oxytocin is a regulating hormone for women.
For men, dopamine is the dominant regulating hormone.
So what is oxytocin?
We know it as the hormone that creates contractions and surges in labour. A woman can only go into labour when she feels safe, secure, and good about herself. That is exactly what oxytocin is, our bonding hormone.
It is the hormone that allows us to feel safe.
To feel secure.
To feel like all is right in our world.
But oxytocin is not just for birth.
It is a pleasure hormone.
So how do we, as women, create oxytocin in our bodies?
How do we learn to do it in small doses, daily?
We activate it through positive sensation.
Through stroking your own skin.
Through exploring what truly feels good in your body.
Maybe gentle pressure, maybe firmer pressure, exploring what feels good in your body.
Touching your body in a way that creates a positive sensation.
Holding your child.
Your child cuddling into you.
Cuddling with your partner.
Taking a moment to focus on pleasure.
Because our minds are running so fast.
There is always something to do.
We are busy.
Practice and prioritise slowing down.
Slow down enough to focus.
To notice.
To receive.
To actually feel the positive sensations from a cuddle.
From touch.
From connection.
So the ways we create oxytocin is:
- Touch.
- Co-regulation.
- Cuddling.
- Orgasms.
And then there are the external source and ways are;.
- Finding beauty in your environment.
- This is why I always love having flowers in my home.
- Spending time with your animals, if you have them
- Spending time in nature.
All of this raises oxytocin levels.
It is important, as women, that we slow down.
That we prioritise pleasure.
That we pay attention.
That we allow ourselves to receive it and bathe in it.
Because when we have more oxytocin available, when we consciously notice and prioritise it, we feel more grounded.
More regulated.
More balanced in our own world. You will feel more whole.
And this is also one of the reasons we created the monthly Women’s Circles.
Because when women gather, we naturally boost each other’s oxytocin.
Simply by being in each other’s presence.
By slowing down together.
By witnessing and being witnessed.
By sharing honestly.
By listening.
There is something deeply regulated about women sitting in circle.
No fixing.
No performing.
Just connection.
And when you leave, you feel different.
More settled.
More open.
More like yourself again.
That is oxytocin bathing in community.
And then this March 20-22nd, we have the Womb Wisdom Weekend.
This will be a deeper immersion.
We will explore ancestry.
We will explore your cycle, whether you are cycling, in perimenopause, or in menopause.
We will work with visualisation.
We will move through yoga.
It is an experience of coming back to your centre.
I will be drawing on 30 years of experience to help you reconnect to who you are at your core. Because when your womb is centred, you come from the right place.
The most powerful place is a womb-centred space.
When your womb is centred, your decisions shift.
Your boundaries shift.
Your clarity strengthens.
You move differently in the world.
We will also explore what I learnt in Ecuador, how to physically centre your womb. Because energetically and physically, it can go out of place more easily than we realise. And when it is not centred, we feel it.
Unsettled.
Disconnected.
Unclear.
When it is centred, there is power.
There is calm.
There is alignment.
Women need to understand that pleasure is not indulgent.
It is biological.
It is essential to female physiology.
From an oils point of view, Clary Sage essential oil is one we often use in labour to support contractions. It is supportive because it helps the body relax and encourages oxytocin to flow.
When oxytocin is flowing well, our other hormones tend to fall into place. That is why it is so important for women at all ages.Smelling clary sage from the bottle, in a diffuser or applying it to your body, will affect your oxytocin and effect all your hormones positively.
Especially with everything happening in the world.
The real question is:
How are you staying grounded?
How are you staying regulated?
How are you cultivating pleasure and beauty in your daily life?
Oxytocin bathing is not a luxury.
It is a practice.
