Do you know the difference between common and normal?

When it comes to women and our many seasons, from menarche to menopause. We’ve been conditioned to believe that so many things are normal when in truth, they’re simply common.

We think it’s normal to have pain when we bleed every month.
It’s not normal – it’s common.
Pain is your body’s way of telling you something is out of alignment. Something needs attention, gentleness, and care.

When we move into pregnancy, we’re told it’s normal that one in three women miscarry.
Again, it’s not normal – it’s common.
And while miscarriage is part of many women’s stories, it’s also a sign that we, as a collective, are out of balance – not just in our bodies, but in our lives, in our relationship with the earth, and with how we care for women.

Then we look at birth.
It’s become so common for women to experience trauma around birth that we now see it as normal.

But it’s not.
Birth is meant to be sacred, powerful, transformative – not traumatic.

And for postpartum…
We’ve normalised the idea that it’s just part of motherhood to feel like we’re failing, to be utterly exhausted, to lose ourselves.

It’s not normal. It’s common.

Even things like peeing when we jump on a trampoline, sneeze, or cough, we joke about it, as if it’s just part of having babies.

But again, it’s common, not normal.
Your body is wise and capable of healing, it just needs support and awareness.

As we move into perimenopause and menopause, we’re told it’s normal to have hot flushes, mood swings, insomnia, and all the rest.
It’s not normal – it’s common.
It’s a reflection of how far we’ve drifted from our natural rhythms, from the wisdom of our bodies, and from nature herself.

All of this points to one truth:
We are out of balance.
Out of rhythm with nature, and out of rhythm with ourselves.
And yet, we are nature.

So how do we come back into balance? and ride the waves of continuous change?

It begins with a choice.
Because life is always one decision away from being different.
One decision away from alignment, from remembering who you are, from choosing to put yourself first.

As women, and especially as mothers, we must learn to make ourselves a priority, to put yourself first.
Because if you’re not okay, no one else in your family unit is. We hold the responsibility as women and mothers.

And I don’t want you to just be okay.
I want you to be thriving. Alive. Vibrant.

That’s the point of being here in this human body, to experience life in its fullness.

Yes, life is messy. It’s uncomfortable most of the time.
Healing is not all rainbows and butterflies.
It’s about digging deep into the dark, soil of your own being.
It’s about making time to look honestly at your soul, your life, your choices, and your beliefs.

And perhaps the biggest question to ask yourself is this:
What have you been taught to believe is normal, that is only common?

Find your own balance.

How to ride the waves of constant change?

Your version of normal for you.

And let it be rooted in truth, not conditioning.
