Learning to feel safe in uncertainty

I’m trusting this is the message that you need today.

Because perhaps you are in a season of change, a season of becoming, and perhaps you can feel that something in your life is asking you to move, grow or let go but part of you is still holding on.

My work has always been about supporting women through the different transitions that we go through, and the more I do this work, the more I realise how much we are always changing.

Recycling.

Releasing.

Becoming.

Even when we are not cycling anymore, we are still cycling, women are in cycles all the time. We cycle with the moon, and the moon changes every 2 1⁄2 days, we are constantly in change.

And as a woman who facilitates feminine healing, I am realising more and more how vital the nervous system is, especially when we are in seasons of big change and levelling up. We are often taught that we need to push and perform in order to get to the next level of our life.

Our business.

The love that we might be seeking or looking for.

We push.

We perform.

We achieve.

We accomplish.

We create.

We manifest.

And then when we finally achieve the thing that we have been wanting, it is so vital that we take a moment to receive it.

To celebrate it.

To actually let ourselves feel it, but usually, we just move on to the next thing.

Onto the next goal.

The next thing to fix.

The next thing to create.

Perhaps out of fear.

Perhaps because we don’t know how to receive.

Perhaps because slowing down feels uncomfortable.

And this is where the nervous system comes in.

When we are wanting to tone the nervous system, it is really important that we avoid that vicious cycle of constantly pushing ourselves towards the next thing.

For example, perhaps you know that your purpose is to help other women.

You have a vision, but you never feel like you have time to build your business, deep down, you are clutching to your corporate job because it feels safe, but at the same time, it is really dampening your confidence and not allowing you to prosper, maybe your libido is low.

Maybe something inside you wonders if just letting go and building the business that you really want would make you happier.

And wealthier.

And then comes that moment of thought and doubt.

What if?

Can I really do this?

Is it safe?

What happens if I let go?

In that moment, we have two choices.

  1. We can stay stuck in the fear.
  2. We can start to tone the nervous system for big change.

This is the work that we call the parasympathetic ease, it is the work of expanding our capacity, and also teaching the body to find safety in uncertainty. Because simply knowing that you have your own back changes something, and knowing that you can come back to your own body. Knowing that you can feel safe, no matter what is going on.

This doesn’t mean that you are never afraid, it doesn’t mean that everything suddenly feels certain. It means that even though you are afraid, even though it feels uncertain, you can come back to the body.

You can come back to yourself.

You can feel safe, and this is where we can really change.

Not by pushing harder.

But by creating enough safety within ourselves to allow change to happen.

To receive what we have created.

To celebrate where we are.

To trust what is unfolding, and to become the woman who can hold the next level of her life, maybe you don’t need to push your way there, maybe your body just needs to know that it is safe to go there and this is the deeper work.

Learning to be with yourself through all the different seasons of being a woman.

The changing.

The releasing.

The becoming.

The receiving.

The uncertainty.

And coming home to your body, again and again.

This is some of the work we explore in my 6-week online Embodying Womanhood journey creating more capacity to feel, receive, change and trust yourself through the seasons of your life.

Because the woman you are becoming deserves to feel safe in her own body.
